A HILARIOUS video shows a Scot’s disastrous attempt to jump over a stream – before taking a tumble and falling in head first.

David Orr and his family were on holiday travelling the North Coast 500 route last week when the epic fail was caught on camera.

The family, from Whitburn, West Lothian, stopped to photograph Ardvreck Castle in Sutherland on Sunday but had to cross a small stream from Loch Assynt.

After his daughter Megan successfully navigated the water, David, 43, was determined to get across before his son Jake.

A video shows David, a boxing gym owner, telling Jake to tie his shoelace before lining up to run and jump over the stream.

As he runs towards the water, he quickly loses his balance on the rough ground and falls to his knees.

The momentum of the stumble catapults David head first into the stream.

Jake is seen bursting out laughing at his dad’s misfortune and the person filming has to put the camera down to have a laughing fit.

David posted the video onto Facebook on Sunday with the caption: “Be careful on the NC500”.

David fell head first into the stream whilst Jake laughed.                                                                               (C) David Orr

Speaking today, David said: “I had spotted the ruin in the distance, I said to my girlfriend ‘let’s get a picture of that’ and she agreed, also to let the kids stretch their legs.

David was left soaking, and Jake was in stitches laughing on the floor.                                                            (C) David Orr

“We got out and the bit we were on was surrounded by water, so instead of take a 20 second walk either way, I said ‘let’s just cross it.’

“Megan was first then it was Jake and I.

“The past day we were on a beach and a similar opportunity arose to jump but I backed out of it, this time I was going to do it, that’s why I was pushing myself to do it.

“Jake faked to do it and then I saw his lace was undone so I said ‘you do your lace’, and in my head I said ‘right you wee sh**e, I’m going to beat you and do it first.’

“The next thing I know my confront is underwater and I didn’t know if it was New Year or New York!”
